Torsten Böker is a staff astronomer with the European Space Agency, working at STScI. He graduated from the University of Munich, and obtained his PhD at the Max-Planck-Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching, Germany. Throughout his career, he has worked for both HST and JWST, and participating in these two flagship missions has given him extensive experience in every phase of a major space observatory. His science is focused on observational studies of the central regions of nearby galaxies.
