Jason Tumlinson is an astronomer at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in Baltimore, where he currently works on both the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes. His scientific interests range from theoretical studies of the first galaxies to observations of the gas between the galaxies with Hubble. After getting hooked on astronomy growing up on the dark Texas plains, he completed his PhD at the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2002 and held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Chicago and Yale before joining STScI in 2008. In addition to his astronomical pursuits, he appreciates kayaking, backpacking, good barbecue, and two children when they are well-behaved.
