Harry Ferguson has been leading surveys of distant galaxies since the initial Hubble Deep Field in 1996. He is co-principal investigator of the CANDELS project (with Sandy Faber of UC Santa Cruz). He received his PhD from the Johns Hopkins University in 1990. After three years as a postdoctoral fellow at Cambridge University, he came to STScI as a Hubble Fellow, and joined the scientific staff in 1995. He has worked in various aspects of instrument and science support since then, currently as a member of the Mission Engineering and Science Analysis (MESA) team focusing on the next generation of astronomical data analysis software.
